Class update 10/26

Hey everybody. Sunday was a great class. I think God really wants to work on us young families. We live in uncertain times. I am praying these times send us back to Scripture for direction. I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. If you want to read ahead, just check out chapters 13 and 14 of 1 Samuel.‬

Thanksgiving Food Drive

If you weren’t in class this week you missed the announcement that we are in a contest with Tom Price’s class and Bill Latham’s to have the most Family Boxes. If we beat Tom’s class he will shave his head!! (to be fair, he did make the offer without checking with Kelly first).

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Westside’s Thanksgiving Food drive is November 2-16. We would like for Sunday School classes and/or families to sponsor a Family Box. Suggested items for each box are listed below.

If you cannot sponsor a box, individual canned goods are appreciated. All food can be placed

in the designated area outside the kitchen hallway between Nov. 2-16. If you would like to

help with this mission project, please contact Doreen Reid at 375.0784.

Family Box Packing List – (Use any large cardboard box)

2 cans of chicken or turkey, flour, sugar, 2 cans fruit, 4 cans vegetables, 2 chicken broths,

powdered milk, peanut butter, jelly, 1 bag of rice or pasta, 1 can evaporated milk, 1 bag of

stuffing mix, 1 can pumpkin pie filling, 1 box of jello (Large), 1 coffee, 1 box of tea bags, 1

bottled juice.

We had a few families sign-up this week in class. We need several more if we are going to beat Tom and Bill!

Reply to this email how many Family Boxes you will be bringing so Tina can see. Thanks!

1 Samuel 9

This week we continued our study of 1 Samuel, with chapter 9. In 9 we are introduced to Saul. Young, handsome and tall. Saul exhibits admirable qualities, yet is he reluctant when it comes to responsibility?

Also, why is Samuel making sacrifices in a High Place when God told his people to tear down all the High Places before they even entered the promised land?

Join us next week as we finish Chapter 9 and start Chapter 10.
